The short version
Honeybee Planners is a homeschool planner you use to organize your own family. We collect the information you type in so the app can do its job — plan lessons, grade worksheets, save reports. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. We don't use anything you put in the app to train artificial intelligence. If you ever want your data out, email us and we'll send it to you. If you ever want it gone, email us and we'll delete it.
Who we are
Honeybee Planners LLC ("we", "us"). We're a small family business based in Florida, USA. You can reach us anytime at support@honeybeeplanners.com.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your account. Your email address and a password. We never see your actual password — only a one-way scrambled version that even we can't reverse. Account holders must be at least 18 years old.
- Your family. The names of your children, their display names, and any per-child preferences you set up (like a default grading metric or a passing-score threshold).
- Your school work. The lessons you plan, the curricula you set up, the calendar events you add, the attendance you log, the grades you record, and the reports you save.
- Worksheet photos. When you use Scan & Grade, you photograph a worksheet with your iPad's camera. We store that photo so you can review it later and re-grade if needed.
- Saved formal reports. Any Year-End Evaluation or other portfolio document you compose and save in the Documents tab.
Information collected automatically
- A secure session token kept on your device so you stay logged in.
- Standard technical information that comes with any internet request — your iPad model, app version, and the rough timing of the request — used only for compatibility checks and bug investigation.
We do NOT collect: your location, your contacts, your browsing history, advertising IDs, microphone audio, or any biometrics.
2. Children's data — important
Honeybee is a tool for parents to plan their own homeschool. The parent is our customer. The parent decides what about their family goes into the app.
- A child does not create an account in Honeybee.
- A child cannot enter personal information into the app on their own.
- A child cannot communicate with anyone outside their household through the app.
- A child sees no ads, no third-party content, and no social features.
In the future, your child may sign in on their own iPad to work through worksheets you've assigned them. When that feature ships, your child's interaction with the app will still be limited to: choosing which child they are, viewing or answering content you have already created for them, and optionally hearing it read aloud by their iPad's built-in voice. We do not collect any new information from your child during that session.
Because you are the account holder and the one who decides what about your child goes into Honeybee, you provide consent for any minor's data we hold on your behalf. If you'd like us to delete your child's data at any time — for any reason or no reason — email support@honeybeeplanners.com and we'll remove it within 30 days.
3. How we use it
We use your information only to:
- Run the app for you (sync your data across devices, render your reports).
- Grade worksheet photos when you ask us to (described in §4).
- Send transactional emails — password resets, billing receipts. We don't send marketing email.
- Investigate bugs that you or another user report.
We do NOT:
- Sell, rent, or trade your data.
- Use your data to train artificial intelligence models.
- Share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Use your data for anything unrelated to running the app for you.
4. The services we work with
We use a small set of trusted services to make the app work. Each handles only what it needs to.
- Supabase — our database and file storage. Stores your account, your school data, and your worksheet photos. Supabase processes data on our behalf under their standard data processing terms. Your data is stored on servers located in the United States.
- Anthropic (Claude) — when you grade a worksheet photo, we send that photo to Anthropic's Claude API to read what's on the page and grade it. Anthropic processes the request to grade your worksheet and, per their API terms in effect at the time of processing, does not use API inputs to train their models. Anthropic retains the request only briefly for abuse-prevention purposes and then deletes it.
- Apple App Store — handles your subscription and billing. We never see your credit card. Apple tells us only that your subscription is active.
- Your iPad's built-in speech engine — when the worksheet player reads questions aloud, the text is processed entirely on your iPad and never leaves the device.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, social media, or crash-reporting SDKs.
5. Subscription and billing
Honeybee Planners begins with a free trial, after which a subscription is required to continue using the app. Current pricing is shown in the App Store and in the app at the time you subscribe. Billing is handled by Apple, not by us. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your iPad's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
6. Your rights
At any time, you can:
- See your data. Everything we hold about you is visible inside the app.
- Correct your data. Edit it directly in the app.
- Export your data. Email support@honeybeeplanners.com and we'll send you a copy of your data in a portable format. We aim to respond within 30 days. We strongly recommend exporting before deleting.
- Delete your data. Use Account → Delete Account inside the app, or email us. We remove it from active systems within 30 days. Encrypted backups roll over on a regular cycle and become inaccessible after that — they exist only for disaster recovery and are never queried.
If you live somewhere with stricter privacy rules (California, the European Union, the United Kingdom, etc.), your local laws may give you additional rights. Email support@honeybeeplanners.com and we'll help you exercise them.
7. How long we keep things
We hold your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, we keep your data for 12 months in case you come back, then automatically delete it unless you've asked us to keep it longer. If you delete your account, we delete within 30 days.
8. Security
All data moves between your iPad and our servers over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your password is never stored — only a one-way hash. Your data lives in Supabase's hosted Postgres database under row-level security, which means only your account can read your own rows.
No system is unbreakable. If we ever discover that your data has been exposed in a breach, we'll tell you promptly. If something looks wrong on your end — a login from somewhere you've never been, an email you didn't request — email support@honeybeeplanners.com right away.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll let you know inside the app and update the "Last updated" date at the top. We aim to post material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree to a change, you can cancel and delete your account at any time.
